Wow ... how impressive.
Sometimes the behavior of wildlife in their natural environment isn't pretty. -- Eric Jacobsen Minister of Algorithms Abineau Communications http://www.abineau.com

Some years ago, in late May, I was watching a beach a few 100 meters away through my 20-60x magnification telescope. I was watching one section of the beach when all of a sudden all hell broke loose on another section. Everything with feathers or plumage took to the sky - double quick and then some. When I trained my telescope to the centre of attention, I could see the reason: A sea eagle had struck one of the weeks-old ducklings in the area, and was just swooping back to pick up his prey. The eagle, duckling in talons, sat down on a rock and started to pick feathers off the duckling. From 200 meters away I could see - although not hear - the duckling scream all trough the process. By this time the eagle was becoming increasingly harassed by every crow, seagull and magpie near the beach, so he left to have his fastfood meal elsewhere. Pretty? Maybe not. Fascinating - certainly! As some of you may have seen on the compdsp.com site, I'm providing free
licenses to ScopeDSP to all participants of the comp.dsp conference.
I've sent out a few of those already to the folks whose email addressses
I had handy, but if you're attending the conference and haven't heard
from me yet, please drop me a note at the address below and I'll send
along your free license as soon as I can.

For more information about ScopeDSP, see
http://www.iowegian.com/scopedsp. You can download it from

thanks,

Grant

Sorry we won't see you there, Fred! But all this talk of guns makes me _very_ glad the eBob won't be attending... ;-) Grant -- _____________________________________________________________________ Grant R.
