Personally, I think VS is a PITA and would choose a variety of things in preference.

If you have a 64-bit processor, and installed the 64-bit version, but don't currently need programs that big, then the 32-bit compilers should be fine. Actually, Windows 7 32-bit should work fine on a 64-bit processor. Well, you do have to be a little more specific. If you are asking about IA64 then the answers are very different. (I am not sure that there is a Windows 7 for IA64, though.) -- glen

I only use Windows for one application, and I use that one because my accountant is comfortable with it. All else is done on Ubuntu. Speaking of Windows, there's a piece in the Sunday Oregonian about Russia -- with Microsoft's help -- using accusations of pirated software to crack down on dissident groups. They pick a group they don't like (the example given was an environmental group), they sweep in, they confiscate all he computers, and they leave. Now, try to run your group when all your files have been taken by the authorities. -- Tim Wescott Wescott Design Services http://www.wescottdesign.com Do you need to implement control loops in software?
