At any time, the number of interesting discussions here is quite small. The quality of discussion is very much dependent on a small but steady stream of seed messages. Therefore, it is inherently fragile. Just be happy it works reasonably well most of the time. :-)

We're now in a full Rayleigh channel and falling into a spatial null. The SNR has been dropping the entire time. So I suspect we'll come out the other side of this null, too, like we have in the past, but the fades are getting deeper and closer together. The sad part is that this time it's not eBob/Beanie-type external extremists that are creating the null. Eric Jacobsen Minister of Algorithms Abineau Communications http://www.abineau.com

True, he may have picked you up on your appalling demonstrations of infantile behaviour, but he never caused any problems. How can an honest, sincere and informed discussion about the Diracian Delta Function cause problems? Surely ti is what this NG is all about.

Vlad, it's the incessant name-calling, put-downing, noob-biting, and then the responses to all of those, that is bringing down the S/N. there are times for fights. 11 years ago, i had a good one with a guy named Jay Rabkin (about the sampling theorem and dirac delta). Google Groups search doesn't work so well, but you might be able to find it. but we don't need to make this some kind of exclusive club where stupidents (and smarter folks) and others are either unwelcome or only serve as targets of ridicule. if someone asks a dumb question, and you don't wanna deal with a dumb question, why bother to respond at all? this internally generated crap, plus the soulless huckster spam and porn spam, plus externalities like eBob/beanie, plus my own political rants (when i get absolutely fed up with the content on the news) accumulate and really bring down the S/N. r b-j
