stereo image capturing hardware

Started by emre March 1, 2011
Hi All,

I am thinking of starting a hobby project on stereo vision. I would like
to minimize my effort on actually getting the images to the computer via
usb or firewire. I have been googling for the past hour and found very few
leads. Does anyone here know where to buy a stereo image capture system?

Samsung 3D 12 Mpixels about the price of a mid level point and shoot. http://www.letsgodigital.org/en/24890/samsung-3d-camera/ Alternatively a couple of cheap digital cameras set a few inches apart and triggered at the same time. w..

http://www.ptgrey.com/products/bumblebee2/bumblebee2_stereo_camera.asp But it might be a bit expensive for a hobby project? How dynamic are the scenes you want to attempt? I'd have thought that for fairly static scenes you'd get away with a couple of identical webcams. If it's moving imagery, then you'll probably have to sync them together which is a bit trickier!
