I'm sorry for the difficulties I've been inadvertently causing. Brian touched on them in https://groups.google.com/d/topic/comp.dsp/nj_RuGClmzc/discussion and elsewhere. I'm curious about how long the fragmentation has been happening. Many regular readers recall a long time when I didn't post at all, long enough to give some here concern about my well being. Both of my news servers had stopped recognizing me as a customer, and that is still the case. I finally resorted to groups.google despite its uncomfortable user interface. I have been using it since my "return to the land of the living", and now it appears that that portal has also gone bad on me. I'll try to get something working right before I next participate in an on-line discussion. I Hope to get my Thunderbird-Terranews handshake back on line soon. Look up Eternal-September (a good free news service) 2. Get a real newsreader (to avoid Google groups) Then you will have no more Google with its loads of spam.

(If I remember the thread, then I don't look at the subject.) Your posts don't have line breaks at less than 80 columns. It is usual in posts to do that, and most newsreaders will add them in if they aren't there. As others have noted, there is eternal-september, which I use now that my previous news server went away. It seems to work well, and allows for the usual newsreader software. It does require an authentication process which some older newsreaders might not do, but most should work. -- glen

Consider this a test to see if it fixes the threading. It does fix the problem. I wish I knew whether Google Groups was an evil scheme to kill Usenet, or well-intentioned incompetence on Google's part. -- http://www.wescottdesign.com
