Which DSP Kit / Evaluation board ?

Started by Unknown December 7, 2003
hi i wish to start learning DSP and wish to do it practically and hence have
decided to purchase
the "MC56F8300DSK : Developers Starter Kit"
from motorola

can someone advise if this choice is good?.Please give any other comments
advice

I don't think the 56k family is really used all that much anymore. So
I might go with a board using a chip that is, like the TI C55 or ADI
2191 or Tigersharc. But they might be more expensive ( not sure ).
Any practical DSP experience, though, is better than none ... and
transferrable ... if the 59K board is being chosen because it's what
you can afford, or whatever.

yes i already looked into Ti320C5000 series and the later of the ADI
but the boards are TOOO (approx 290$) costly for a student like me.
:-)

May be you can look at these boards: http://www.fidalgo.net/~wa7gxd/dsp.html Also look at TI C3x DSKs. They are floating point devices. It may probably be cheaper than those boards with newer chips like C5510. 73 -- Ramakrishnan
Hello Harshit,

We have board called EPIC-4.
This might help you.

EPIC-4 have ARM7TDMI and Blackfin DSP ( 600 MIPS). Along with Audio
and Video outputs....
Intereseting, I suppose.

Kind Regards
jk

Analog Devices are right now promoting their BF533 EZKIT-Lite for 99$, take a look at their web site for information about the kit, and at this link for their promotion: www.analog.com/blackfingo Jan
Hello Ramakrishnan

The TMS320VC33 DSK suggested retail price is $150 but dont be surprised
to find an extra 'handling fee' attached. Avnet for example lists the
price at $150, but obviously I did not go through the actual purchase
process. If it helps, the part number is TMDSDSK33.

If you want to get a copy of the latest code (also good for the C31 DSK)
the new download location is

Best regards,
