Bret Cahill is a troll, and to maintain a decent S/N ratio on comp.dsp, we need to stop engaging him.

I would have written a lot of what Vlad wrote if I hadn't been drilled in "Keep quiet if you have nothing nice to say" when I was little. I don't mind naive questions, but questions like "What's the best way to clear mosquitoes with an Akkar Model 300 Master Mag 12-Gauge Shotgun? show a lack of thought that taxes my patience. I hope Vlad is just busy. Jerry -- Engineering is the art of making what you want from things you can get. ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯

Vlad was 1) experienced in DSP implementation 2) knowledgeable about DSP applications 3) capable of concise technical communication about DSP and 4) rude. This new person has only shown 4) in common. Dale B. Dalrymple
full ACK from my side.

anyone with a lot of spare time to moderate the group? aaaarffh! :-)

Since this is human behavior, I might be able to add something
worthwhile.
Rude is just an aspect of human behavior. It is a sign of weakness or
ignorance. It lessons the value of whatever the speaker has to offer.
It is noise. Whatever you mine, there is some kind of dross to be
discarded. Knowledge and information are end products of what we all
seek here. Rude is noise to be eliminated. You guys (and gals) know
better than I about noise. I am the student here. It doesn't bother me
and it shouldn't bother others.

If you choose to ponder it further I suggest you Google:
Law of the Garbage Truck
and Serenity Prayer.
