Hi! I have recently just graduated with a PhD in Telecommunications in one of the universities in UK. I wonder what is the expecting salary for a new PhD graduate in the area of Telecommunications in UK, USA, Germany (e.g. Munich) and Finland (e.g. Oslo)? It would be great if someone could provide some rough ideas or some related links that can give me relevant information about this. Many thanks. Linda

Oslo used to be in Norway and Helsinki in Finland. Both are nice cities.>It would be great if someone could provide some rough ideas or some >related links that can give me relevant information about this. > >Many thanks. > >Linda

If one can find work in the field, the pay is quite good. But finding that work is next to impossible. GB

I remember being told that I would be payed little more than a recent graduate when I finished mine - so better to not bother at all.Remember engineers in the UK are equated to little more than TV repairmen in the public eye. Hi Linda...> I have recently just graduated with a PhD in Telecommunications in one > of the universities in UK. I wonder what is the expecting salary for a > new PhD graduate in the area of Telecommunications in UK, USA, Germany > (e.g. Munich) and Finland (e.g. Oslo)?I would say between EUR-50k and EUR-100k, depending on how lucky you are. Also, take tax into consideration, you might get offered EUR-100k to work in Stockholm and pay 45% tax, or EUR-80k to work in Dublin and pay 20% tax. Also, note how strong Sterling is at the moment and how weak the dollar is. DD
