CCS compatible JTAG interfaces

Started by Unknown October 3, 2003

Does anybody know of a reasonably priced JTAG interface which works with
the Texas Code Composer Studio. All the ones I have found so far cost
$3,000+ !!!

At www.spectrumdigital.com you can find a parallel port JTAG interface at 1300$. It's still too much (it contains a 10$ Actel FPGA and nothing else) but at least it's better than 3000$. Some time ago we have spoken in this newsgroup about self-building a JTAG interface (search "homebrew JTAG" or something like this with Google groups). The conclusion was that although it's possible, it would take a lot of time and probably it isn't worth the effort (unless you use a lot of them or you want to start a JTAG emulators business :-)). -- Lorenzo

Thanks Lorenzo.

Did you get anywhere with developing your own or are you still paying
for the SpectrumDigitial ?

Sadly, I'm still paying. In fact, I've returned a broken JTAG for repair just some days ago! :( I've found an interesting project on the Internet, but it uses a deprecated device (PPC34C60 from SMSC, the same used by some early TI and Spectrum Digital's EZ-DSP). If someone can point me at someone who sells them, I would be very glad! :) -- Lorenzo
