I was looking for eight microphone inputs and something not too expensive. I wondered (even though the application is for music) if this would fit the bill http://www.aardvarkaudio.com/aasd-v1/products/q10-main.html It comes with software - maybe I could create 8 .wav files with this kit and process off-line.I don't need real-time processing at present. Anybody used it for anything or got any other ideas? Thanks Tom

The ideal array sampling system would consist of 8 ADCs in parallel that sample in the exact same moment with neglectable "sample and hold" times. You should try to find a data sheet for this thing, and see how the sampling is done, and decide whether it suits your needs. Rune

You didn't say how the microphones are oriented / arranged. You also didn't say if you intend to do simple summation beamforming or also intend to do beam steering. With simple summation beamforming (no delays inserted in the element (microphone) channels) you will still need to align the delays if the ADC is sequential across the channels. You might try alt.sci.physics.acoustics with your question. Fred
