Go for it if your scholarship allows you to do so. Double-check the fine prints to see if the scholarship has some strings attached. University regulations are usually much more flexible. They will let you enrol the paper as long as you talk to the right person... I am in the final year of my EE PhD. Since I migrates from ChemEng to EE (thru control/signal proc), I really think I should take some extra papers. I almost lost my scholarship by trying to do that. The govt funding agent that funds my research is adamant that all the funded researcher (ie, me) must be 100% full time. No TA/RA work or extra course is possible.... Watch out!
