Usenet will very likely still be here long after Facebook has gone (its long-term future is far from certain). Pretty pictures, yes, but I see no discussions. Style over content. Really, there is not much to say about a picture. With usenet we get conveniently distinct threads, and any message can be quickly saved to disk for future reference. Richard Dobson

Also, Usenet gets picked up by various aggregators and winds up Google searchable whereas the walled garden of Facebook does not. Just because a technology is newer doesn't make it better. -- Rob Gaddi, Highland Technology -- www.highlandtechnology.com Email address domain is currently out of order. See above to fix.

I agree that there are too many pictures in that group, but it doesn't need to be like that of course. Just asking.

Something that supports MathJax would be very nice.
One plus for Facebook is that it gives a numerical answer to the question "how many dsp friends do I have" and "how many people liked my post"? With UseNet I'm always insecure.

Also, we could invent emoticons that are specific to dsp; for example, an unstable system might be summed up by an emoticon consisting of a unit circle with 2 poles on the outside and a frowny- face in the middle.
