TMS320LF2406A Simulation (FET)

Started by Jaime Andres Aranguren Cardona November 8, 2004
Good day,

I'm trying to learn a bit about TI's controllers from the 24x family,
I'm specially interested on the 2406A.

So, I downloaded the latest version CCS for the C2000 family, which is
version 2.21. Seems nice. But I just can't simulate for the C24
subfamily!!! All what is available for the C24x needs of an emulator,
which of course, I don't have. Simulation is possible just for the
C28x family, specifically the 2812 and 2810.

How could I be able to simulate for the 2406A with that software
setup?

Code Composer 4.10 (NOT Code Composer Studio) has C20x simulator.
C20x core has is practicaly the same core as C24xx, but have in mind
that simulator is only useful for core simulations, you can not
simulate any peripherals.

Useful for developing algorithms, and for basic learning (adding,
multiplying, ...)

Thanks a lot Mitja. Do you know how can I get it, for free? In any case, I'm still looking for tools which allow full simulation of the LF240xA. I can't believe it doesn't exist!!! Ah, maybe it exists but costs lots of $$$... At the moment I need the cheapest possible solution. C2000 FET seemed to be the perfect fit, but it just works for the C28x. JaaC

I haven't heard of such tool, and even if it existed I belive it is not as useful as you might think, because you will always need to have some external input to peripherals. Go and buy an EzDSP kit if you can't afford an XDS emulator. You will learn much quicker than with simulator

As I understand C28x core has compatibility mode, so that you can run software writen for C24xx cores, and peripherals are practicaly the same, but I don't recomend you doing it this way. Mitja
