Novice to IIR filter

I am beginner in DSP. Overall I am hoping to first learn time domain filter
before heading to frequency domain. Are all types of IIR filter considered
time domain ?

How do i implement a band pass filter. Is there a good explanation on what
is meant by priming ?

There is currently a disagreement comp.dsp about whether filters are defined in time or in frequency domain. To get sensible answers, you should re-phrase your question: did you mean fast convolution vs. time domain convolution FIR filtering? Remember, this is only one side of the digital filtering coin (the other side is concerned with IIR filters). Read all about it in: http://www.dspguide.com
