6711 DSK install

Started by Headache August 18, 2004
I tried installing CCS V2.0 and 2.1 SDK on my PC and then discovered
that I could only type strange accented characters and that when I
clicked on program items it would show their properties rather than
run the programs. I put it down to the fact that I have Windows XP
Home edition as my OS.

Before I reformat my hard disk and reinstall a new OS I wonder which
is the most *pain-free* route to go. Can I install on Windows XP
(Professional, I take it - is that correct?) with CCS 2.0 and 2.1 DSK?
Would it be easier to install on Windows 2000 SP1 with CCS 2.0 and 2.0
DSK?

I also have a book for programming the DSK by Ralph Chaissing which
requires a UFS driver for the CD-ROM. I take it this would work on
Windows 2000 SP1 but that I might need an updated driver for Windows
XP?

I would kinda just like the whole thing work!

TIA

I have CCS running on a Win98 laptop and a few Win XP machines. Just try re-installing XP and that should fix the problem without having to re-install all your applications. -howy

I have run several versions of CCS 2.2x and 2.21 for the 28x DSPs on Windows XP Home with no problem. Runs on them exactly the same as it does on XP Professional. Try reinstalling XP, CCS and the DSK, or both. -- Jack Klein Home: http://JK-Technology.Com FAQs for comp.lang.c http://www.eskimo.com/~scs/C-faq/top.html comp.lang.c++ http://www.parashift.com/c++-faq-lite/ alt.comp.lang.learn.c-c++ http://www.contrib.andrew.cmu.edu/~ajo/docs/FAQ-acllc.html
