Tonight, the comp.dsp conference starts with a barbecue, beer, fire, etc.... If you can drive to Minnesota, its probably not too late to come. Otherwise, you guys are going to miss out on a lot of fun -- Al Clark Danville Signal Processing, Inc. -------------------------------------------------------------------- comp.dsp conference July 28 - Aug 1, 2004 details at http://www.danvillesignal.com/index.php?id=compdsp email: compdsp@danvillesignal.com Who says you can't teach an old dog a new DSP trick?

I really regret not being able to attend... :-( Please don't forget to upload some nice pictures somewhere for those who weren't able to make it this year... Have fun! -- Stephan M. Bernsee http://www.dspdimension.com

You seem to think that Usenet ends at the boundaries of the USA (or in your case, Minnesota).

I'd guess some 50 people or so. My impression is that while two thirds of the regulars may be situated in the US, the remaining regulars are scattered all over the world. I have the distinct impression that the regulars here are very aware of this geographical scattering. Rune

Al did say *if* and I took his inspirational invitation just for what it is. I am within the boundaries of the US and it would be a helluva drive for me too! So, don't feel bad. The truth is, I *can* drive to Minnesota in maybe 24 hours. But, I'm too old for that to make sense. So I guess Al can be accused of being insensitive to seniors too! Maybe he thinks Usenet ends at age 39, eh? He could have said: "if you can swim to Minnesota".. :-) or "if you can fly to Minnesota" which would then apply to pretty much all of us. Fred

I posted this message on Wednesday. The first people arrived Wednesday afternoon. Actually, anyone who connects to an ocean could have swam to within five miles (8 kilometers) of the conference. I'm sure that having to walk that last 5 miles probably stopped many of you. I also posted invitations for many months, with the assumption that some of you might opt for airfare. Clearly, we are an international group. There is no place that will be convenient to most of us. Minnesota is located in the north central region of the US. It takes 4 days to drive to Minnesota from Los Angeles. I hope someone hosts a 2005 comp.dsp conference. I will probably buy a airplane ticket since 1. I'm not that strong a swimmer 2. I'm over 39. 3. It will probably be farther away than Wisconsin. -- Al Clark Danville Signal Processing, Inc. -------------------------------------------------------------------- comp.dsp conference July 28 - Aug 1, 2004 details at http://www.danvillesignal.com/index.php?id=compdsp email: compdsp@danvillesignal.com Who says you can't teach an old dog a new DSP trick?

With lots of training maybe I'll manage to make the trip next year... :-) Btw.: any cool pictures of the conference? -- Stephan M. Bernsee http://www.dspdimension.com

Ha.Nope, Lake Superior doesn't connect to points south. Besides its too cold even for Minnesotans and Norwegians. Assuming you start with an ocean, you need to go via the Mississippi River. Swim upstream to Red Wing Minnesota and pickup the Cannon River. The river splits at the city of Cannon Falls. You want the Little Cannon River. Get off at Sogn. Walk 5 miles to the East.> > Robert > > www.gldsp.com > > ( modify address for return email ) > > www.numbersusa.com > www.americanpatrol.com >-- Al Clark Danville Signal Processing, Inc. -------------------------------------------------------------------- comp.dsp conference July 28 - Aug 1, 2004 details at http://www.danvillesignal.com/index.php?id=compdsp email: compdsp@danvillesignal.com Who says you can't teach an old dog a new DSP trick?
