OT: GRE Test Results

Started by Unknown January 6, 2006
Hello,

I did my GRE Exams in 1998. I was hoping to reorder a copy of my
results, but I have no idea how to do this? Would anybody on these
groups
know how to go about it?

I went to the GRE website, and they stipulate that phone ordering
of test scores is only possible if the test was sat since 2000. In
order
to mail order, I need to know the test date, and my registration
number,
neither of which I can remember, since it was 8 years ago.

I tried ringing some of the numbers on the GRE website, but its all
recorded
messages, and I cant get to speak to a human. If anybody knows anyone
there
I could contact, or has a number or an email address I could use,
I would much appreciate it.

If you dont want to go sending me coleagues' personal information,
maybe you might forward this message to them instead? The email
address is valid.

Thanks
Porterboy

Hi Porterboy,

Why do you want to reorder a very cold copy. Because
GRE scores older than 5 years are no more valid.

Just write them a letter (yes snail mail) outlineing your problem, and ask
for help, special request, ask them how much it would cost extra.

You can help bound their search by bracketing the time you took the test and
where.
Also an institution may have it, one that you sent it to.

Good luck

Thanks, good idea... I'll do that,...
I think they're only good for 5 years.

From what I can remember, your test scores aren't valid anymore (I think 5 years was the max you could use the scores). You can verify this on the GRE FAQs or something. So you should probably just prepare to write it again since your old scores won't be accepted by most institutions anymore.

That's a bit of a scam no?
Imagine your Engineering degree was only valid for 5 years!
And you had to resit the exams every expiry date!
I think it's a money spinner by the GRE org,
not something imposd by the universities.

It is more likely the case that old scores are not indicative of current abilities. David Ames

I think I agree. The _purpose_ of an exam such as the GRE is quite different than the exam which is _PART_ of appending BS, MS or PE to ones name. One measures accomplishment. One measures preparation to advance. [worded poorly -- but get drift]
