Hey I'm a student in an engineering school in France. I have some report to do for next Monday (about 50 pages) on what are DSPs, their architectures, the mathematics / electronics related to them, and of course applications using DSPs. Does anyone know where I could find these informations I need to do my report in this short time ? Thanks, in advance. -- Fred

Taking a look into a users manual should give some detailed information. Guenter

Ditto for Motorola and Analog Devices. If this report is required to be thorough (and it is a huuuge subject!), you will need to be able to describe the differences between these. You will also need to cover something of the history of DSP architectures. Motorola is especially relevant here, as its (arguably "classic") 56K architecture is at least 15 years old, but its descendants are still going strong, very popular for Pro-Audio soundcards, synthesisers, etc. It also has the still rare distinction of having been incorporated as an audio co-processor into two commercial computer workstations, the NeXT Cube, and the Atari Falcon. If you follow the links from the Motorola home page, you will find they maintain archives of the original 56K Product Manuals and Data Sheets, for example: http://e-www.motorola.com/webapp/sps/site/taxonomy.jsp?nodeId=03z6wYqRXz3350Q5G1 Googling on "DSP Architecture" finds many useful references, including: http://www.techonline.com/community/related_content/13083 A Techonline Lecture on "DSP Architecture and Applications". In addition to the references already posted, I think you will find some useful information at www.bdti.com. If you follow the Inside DSP link there then look under "Resources" you'll find links to white papers, articles, and presentations about DSPs, and also a "pocket guide" table of DSP processors.
