Hello, I recently upgraded to VisualDSP++ 3.5 and now I'm unable to connect to any of my targets. When I run the ICE TestUtility it always fails the Scan Test. I'm using the HPPCI-ICE Emulator and have installed all the 3.5 updates. Has anyone experienced this recently and did you solve the problem? thanks, joe

It doesn't remember your old settings - so you need to setup a new profile for your target. Cheers Bhaskar

The Test Utility goes out and checks how many targets it found and does a scan test. It does find the correct number of targets but fails the scan test. I've been told that the new scan test in 3.5 scans more data and therefore you will have more noise in the system. To minimize the noise Analog Devices Tech support recommend making mods to my boards. I don't want to make any mods to my board because I followed the JTAG spec and what they recommended does follow the JTAG spec. joe

Did you check the jtag speed settings? Maybe in the 3.5 update it sped up the jtag on you. The HP ICE can run the jtag at various frequencies (don't recall offhand where you set it), including the old 10 MHz they used to all run at. ---- Ron Huizen BittWare "joe" <jjlindula@hotmail.com> wrote in message news:880397ee.0406081521.1a7c62a9@posting.google.com...> jjlindula@hotmail.com (joe) wrote in messagenews:<880397ee.0406080623.5dd79247@posting.google.com>...> > Hello, I recently upgraded to VisualDSP++ 3.5 and now I'm unable to > > connect to any of my targets. I don't think you can in the TestUtility, but you can in the Debugger Session. The default speed is 10Mhz I believe and is the lowest setting. joe

You haven't mentioned what target you were connecting to? I would guess 21061 or 21062, is that correct? Hi, I did this recently with Visual DSP ++ 3.5 & HPPCI -ICE emulator the only difference being that I use ADSP 21161N EZ Kit lite. There are 2 differnet modes in which the JTAG emulator can be run. I made it work with Legacy mode and the scan test passed. Hope this helps. jjlindula@hotmail.com (joe) wrote in message news:<880397ee.0406080623.5dd79247@posting.google.com>...> Hello, I recently upgraded to VisualDSP++ 3.5 and now I'm unable to > connect to any of my targets. I thought that the default mode for the emulator was "Legacy" mode. I've tried adding pullup resistors on TDI and TDO as suggested by Analog Devices Tech Support but it still is unable to pass the ICETest. I wished Analog would change the software so that it used the same ICETest that was in 3.0. Do you know if a lot people have upgraded to 3.5 and if they have any problem? joe

Maybe you need to unregister the old dll for your board. I met the same problem when I using TS101 EZ-KIT. I updated my software from VisualDSP version 3.0 to version 3.5,there is the same problem.I asked ANALOG,they told me that I should unregister the DLL for the old board. Here is the email There is an old dll from the 3.0 installation which is causing the error messages. It is possible to click OK on the 3 message boxes that pop up and still bring up the debugger, but that is not a good solution, instead of doing that we would like you to unregister the dll that is interfering with 3.5. To unregister this dll: - Open a MS-DOS command prompt by selecting the windows Start button, then Run, typing in cmd, click OK - change directories to the driver that you installed VisualDSP to For example if you installed VisualDSP to the C drive then type: cd C: - now change directories(cd) to the VisualDSP/system folder where you have installed the VDSP software For example if you installed to the default directory type: cd C:\Program Files\Analog Devices\VisualDSP\System - now type the following line regsvr32 -u WmTS101SEz.dll - You should get a message saying that unregistration succeeded and then click OK Maybe you can try. jjlindula@hotmail.com (joe) wrote in message news:<880397ee.0407041202.56288de5@posting.google.com>...> g_rprabhakar@umassd.edu (Rashmi P) wrote in message news:<77fb333d.0406281219.528cb84b@posting.google.com>... > > Hi, > > > > I did this recently with Visual DSP ++ 3.5 & HPPCI -ICE emulator the > > only difference being that I use ADSP 21161N EZ Kit lite.
