MMSE equalizer

From literature study, I noticed that MMSE equalizer (non-adaptive
type)has been used to equalize the multipath effect in time-varying
channel. May I know how these simulation are conducted since the channel
is time varying while there is no adaptation mechanism for the equalizer?
