Families of DSPs

Started by jajo June 7, 2007
Hi,

1. What do you think about the possibilities of using the family of
DSP Freescale 563xx for processing simultaneously video and speech (H.
26x & G.7xx), are there better options? (taking into account the
price).

2. Do you know any similar implementation (any DSP but everything
together in the same DSP)?

Thanx

The TI DM64x family is intended for video and audio. -- % Randy Yates % "My Shangri-la has gone away, fading like %% Fuquay-Varina, NC % the Beatles on 'Hey Jude'" %%% 919-577-9882 % %%%% <yates@ieee.org> % 'Shangri-La', *A New World Record*, ELO http://home.earthlink.net/~yatescr

Bad idea. 563xx is a poor DSP for tiny applications. It is barely sufficient for audio and inadequate for video.

Use dual core Blackfin or TI DM64. Vladimir Vassilevsky DSP and Mixed Signal Design Consultant http://www.abvolt.com
Hi again,

What do you think about the SoC Nexperia of NXP? It is destinated to
Multimedia applications so, Nexperia or Blackfin?
