Hello, I have a beginner question. The DaVinci platform from TI seems to have swept across the industry in digital video and other multimedia applications. However, behind all the marketing jargon and hype, I am still trying to evaluate what exactly is the competitive advantage of using DaVinci. What are the alternative companies and solutions? Thanks, Eugene

Then you are free to choose each independently. Then your question becomes two-fold: what processors compete with the TI 64x, and what processors compete with the ARM9? I don't think you'll find any DSP that competes with the 64x, even in just performance, but especially if you consider the high level of integration in video- and audio-centric peripherals such as video ports, I2C bus, MCBSP, etc. To answer the question, you might take a look at BDTI's reports on DSPs. -- % Randy Yates % "Ticket to the moon, flight leaves here today %% Fuquay-Varina, NC % from Satellite 2" %%% 919-577-9882 % 'Ticket To The Moon' %%%% <yates@ieee.org> % *Time*, Electric Light Orchestra http://home.earthlink.net/~yatescr
