I have no idea, My installs were to Win 2K & XP and were fine. I thought I saw a response on the ADSP discussion list mentioning a patch for Win98. Do you have enough memory in the Win 98 machine? -- Al Clark Danville Signal Processing, Inc. -------------------------------------------------------------------- comp.dsp conference July 28 - Aug 1, 2004 details at http://www.danvillesignal.com/index.php?id=compdsp email: compdsp@danvillesignal.com Who says you can't teach an old dog a new DSP trick?

Thank you everybody. Yes, the solution seems to come (I have not done it yet) from a poster at adsp@yahoogroups.com, Russell Washington, who wrote: The problem I think you have is discussed here: http://www.analog.com/processors/technicalSupport/toolsAnomalies.html #tar18856 From this link: 18856: Error 2717 when installing under Windows 98 DSP Family: TigerSharc First Discovered in: VDSP++ 3.5 Tool: Simulator Prognosis: Fixed in Update 2004 04 Installing the TigerSHARC components of VisualDSP++ 3.5 for 32-Bit Processors onto a Windows98 machine will fail with the following error: "Internal Error 2717: ExecuteAction Failed." The resolution of this problem is as follows: 1. Download "W98InstallError2717.zip" from ftp://ftp.analog.com/pub/tools/patches/ 2. Extract DanubeModel.dll and DanubeSimTarget.dll into the ".\VisualDSP 3.5 32-Bit\System" directory. 3. Re-run the installer. 4. Reboot the machine. 5. Re-extract the DanubeModel.dll and DanubeSimTarget.dll into the ".\VisualDSP 3.5 32-Bit\System". Thank you very much! Regards, JaaC

I followed these recommendations. And it worked! Regards, JaaC

I installed ver 3.5 and the Mountain Ice emulator no longer can write into the 21065L external sram. (Works fine on the 21062 however). I didn't have this problem with ver 3.0 so it seems to be a ver 3.5 issue. Tech support hasn't responded yet. One thing I like about 3.5 is that it seems you can have more than one project open at the same time. I don't think that was true with ver 3.0. ~Paul
Did you ever get a response from tech support about your Mountain ICE problem?

I think there is a fix for this in the April update package but I'm not
exactly sure about it, you might try the latest update
