OT: Resume Doubt

Started by DSPGURU January 29, 2008
Hi All!

Today is happy day for me. I pass test to join Mensa the
"International Haiku :) Society"; but must post money for joining,
if good to do. Is it good to put on resume I must write for job in
America?

Stop and think, genius. The guy is a foreigner, and he's asking about what looks good on a resume in the US. If you don't know, you could just keep silent. Covering your ignorance with sarcasm is pretty low. Here is my opinion, please understand that it is only my opinion. I have never seen Mensa membership on a resume. Not for any DSP, other programming, or any technical or non-technical position. I personally would not attach any importance to it if I did. I would not rate the person any higher or lower because of it. Other people may have different opinions. -- Jack Klein Home: http://JK-Technology.Com FAQs for comp.lang.c http://c-faq.com/ comp.lang.c++ http://www.parashift.com/c++-faq-lite/ alt.comp.lang.learn.c-c++ http://www.club.cc.cmu.edu/~ajo/docs/FAQ-acllc.html

I'm ripping off one of my favorite Aunt's favorite jokes. The "I'm a member of Densa" works much better when you deliver it in person -- a dull, uninspired, but not 'dumb' monotone seems to have the most impact. Now I wish I were a cartoonist (a dull one, of course) -- the slogan would make a great bumper with the right face to go with it. -- Tim Wescott Control systems and communications consulting http://www.wescottdesign.com Need to learn how to apply control theory in your embedded system? Most of the people who participate in this group can pass a Mensa test. It is not going to set you apart. The real question you should ask yourself is what skills do I have that sets me apart from other potential applicants? Al Clark Danville Signal Processing, Inc.

Jerry, Read some of Mr. Guru's past posts. I think you'll change your opinion. In fact, there's a good possibility that he is not someone named 'Kamar Ruptan' as he claims, but rather somebody else just having some fun. Bob

I might consider letting you into Bensa. I don't think it will improve your resume, though. -- Ben Jackson AD7GD <ben@ben.com> http://www.ben.com/
