Hi Rama (and Andor), Yep, I heard about the award some weeks ago. Thanks for the kind words. Last Fall when Andor (at least I think it was Andor) posted a message here on comp.dsp that there **was** such a thing as the IEEE Signal Processing Magazine Best Column Award, I E-mailed the IEEE folks with my nominations for that award. Actually, I nominated three separate authors for the award. A 2006 author and two 2007 authors and, of course I was not one of those authors. [-Rick-]

Isn't the IEEE kind of like the United Nations?

Hi Eric, Ha ha. Thanks. Well, no one was more surprised by that "award" then me. I sent out a few E-mails, to the IEEE folks, diplomatically trying to find out who was nominated (besides the nominations that I submitted), and how the final decision was made. I learned nothing useful from the E-mail replies that I received. Oh well. My guess is that they gave the award to me because of my sunny personality. ;-) [-Rick-]

Humm, .... I sure don't think so. The IEEE is not a collection of slithering, lying, corrupt, sexual perverts. [-Rick-]

They're both in NYC. They both get most of their money from the US. They both see themselves as international organizations. They both are run by elites. People tend to debate about their usefulness.
