OT? A peak into Scandinavian office life...

Everybody,

Here's something a Danish colleague sent me:

http://www.jobzonen.dk/For%20jobsoegere/Kollegatesten.aspx?csref=kam_03_13_08_ba_jzforside_170x240_kollegatest

This is a test of your 'colleagual' skills. The test contains some
video
with no spoken language, and some questions and multiple-choise
answers in Danish.

Below I have done my best to translate the Q&A to English, so it
ought
to be possible to get the general ideas. You might want to take a
print-out
and have beside you as you watch the video, if you don't understand
Danish text.

To start the video, klick on

'Start Testen hurtig forbindelse'

if you have a fast network connection or

'Start testen langsom forbindelse'

if you have a slow network connection.

===================================

Scene 1 - The printer room

Q: You are busy but can't get access to the xerox. What do you do?

1> Help out so I can get access
2> Yell at her
3> Wait while staring into thin air

====================================

Scene 2 - Practical joke

Q: Your colleagues put peanuts into your allergic colleague's food.
    What do you do?

1> Help out with the joke
2> Try and stop the joke, to save the allergic colleague from harm
3> Hang around to watch how the joke progresses

=====================================

Scene 3 - Salary negotiations

Q: Your boss has rejected your demand for increased salary. What do
you do?

1> Excuse your impertinence
2> Make a scene
3> Try and point out that the demand is reasonable.

=====================================

Scene 4 - Meeting

Q: Everybody like the Logistics boss' suggestion. What do you do?

1> Cheer along with everybody else
2> Point out that I made the same suggestion last week
3> Try and point out the snags with the idea

=======================================

Scene 5 - Teamwork

Q: Your team is two days behind on a project, What do you do?

1> Participate in the social activities
2> Take a nap
3> Try and motivate the team to get to work

=========================================

Scene 6 - Overtime

Q: You expect guests in 20 minutes and the boss asks you to
     work overtime. What do you do?

1> Give the task to somebody else as soon as the boss has left
2> Dare nothing but to obey and do the job
3> Try and explain that I have other appointments

===========================================

Have fun!

Because here I could try out the responses that - well certainly couldn't be done at work without serious repercussions. I.e., the guy who made a scene after being denied a raise. Who hasn't wanted to drop his pants and fart in a bad boss's face ;-) Some people are a bit like sheep and others are more like goats. I tend to be more caprine than ovine. Clay

Sorry - I was WAY too tired yesterday. Today I at least suffer from the illusion of not feeling tired - usually a bad sign... Rune

Rune, No need to apologize. The videos' use of sounds is the funny part - babies crying, chimpanzees, children.etc. Even the armpit farts are a bit childish. But seriously giving peanuts to one with a known alergy is beyond reprehensible. Is this a real test for an employment group? My weak knowledge of German allowed me to pick out a few words here and there, but I'm sure I missed more than I picked up. Clay
