What is it now?Dirk, Now, with inflation, it's $90/hour, but since the contracting agency takes a 50 percent cut, that's $45 / hour to you. So, after you've spent years of your life studying hard in engineering school, and then another decade or two being a slave to Matlab, oscilloscopes, emulators, etc., they can take half of your salary for a couple weeks' work at the high school level. Go figure. -- % Randy Yates % "So now it's getting late, %% Fuquay-Varina, NC % and those who hesitate %%% 919-577-9882 % got no one..." %%%% <yates@ieee.org> % 'Waterfall', *Face The Music*, ELO http://www.digitalsignallabs.com

If you did not have to travel to the job, none of the money was per diem, and you got $60/hr as pay. Overtime usually paid as staight time, but always paid. Dirk

Email resume and information to tgugger@bex.net.If someone can remember how to program the ADSP218x obsolete stuff, he should have at least 10 years of the experience. I have more then that. If you feel like there is enough of money so the offer could be interesting, my email is at the web site. Vladimir Vassilevsky DSP and Mixed Signal Design Consultant http://www.abvolt.com

Keep in mind this guy does not represent the company who has the work. He is a head hunter who will take a chunk off the top of the company's payment. Sometimes you can use the job description to locate the actual company (via Yahoo/Google search or job sites) and bypass the headhunter so you have a chance at the whole payment. Dirk

The client typically has a contract with a handful of local staffing houses and the only way you'll be considered is if you go through one of these middleman. The client in this case is probably General Dynamics C4 Systems or ITT Aerospace/Communications. Getting around middleman is a continuing battle. I guess is is too difficult for clients to deal directly with consultants. They don't want to mess with the contractual paperwork, which is what they already have setup with the middlemen. Every middleman has to take their piece of the pie and the person that actually ends up doing the work gets what's left.

This is a style of the composed and confident professionals :) Although the impression is a litte bit spoiled by the { } brackets. In 21xx assembler, you could use the C-style /* */ for the comments.> Unfortunately though, my interest in obsolete technology is low. The > fee will have to rise.Agreed. (I mean a greed). ADSP21xx is not much fun to work with, especially in our days. Vladimir Vassilevsky DSP and Mixed Signal Design Consultant http://www.abvolt.com
