Silly Question about "movement"

It is mostly wear on that spot on the tape.  If you have an
expensive prerecorded tape, and pause too long on it, it can wear
out that spot.  I have noticed on rented tapes, at spots where
people might pause to look at more carefully, weak signal due
to worn tape.

Well, that is what screen savers are for.  Hours should be fine, it is
days, weeks, and months that cause the problem.

Hey Rick,

I'm afraid we neither have a Schloss nor a Mercedes yet (in fact, our
old Toyota is celebrating its 20th birthday this year), but we're
working on it! :-)

But at least, unlike me, she has what some would call a "normal"
daytime job. You know, one of these you can explain to people without
the help of a blackboard or headphones and where you don't sleep in
the lab face down on a computer keyboard...
