I was reading about HSV model. H - hue it represents the frequency of the
particular colour .s-saturation ,amount of gray or white mixed in the
colour,v-value is for brightness ,more the value of v more bright it is.
so what i understood from this was that a red colour and a blue colour will have
different hue value. If i want to detect an edge i just have to check the hue
value.
But in paint when i choose custom colors it will display the HSV value and the
corresponding RGB value on selection of one color.
I found that a gray color and a blue color have the same hue value.
Can you please explain how two different colors have the same hue?

Hi Shwetha,
Your understanding of the meaning of hue, saturation and value is not accurate. I suggest you look up the HSV colour space on Wikipedia and get a better understanding. Try and see how the output colour changes when you vary each of these parameters individually.
The gray and blue colour may well have the same hue value, but may have varying saturation values. I imagine the blue will have higher saturation than the gray. Check this.
