I'm using Code Warrior, now, on a dsp56852, and, soon, on a dsp56858. So far all of my experience is on the 852, and it's not been a happy experience. The debugger is excruciateingly slow, and the compiler has to be checked all the time to see what code it's generating. So -- does anybody else make tools for the 56800e family? BSO apparently doesn't support this family. |

Charles, Currently I don't believe there is another tools company supporting the DSP56800E family of processors at this point. I would certainly like to get your feedback (positive or negative) regarding using CodeWarrior and see if I can possibly help you around any problems you are currently having and also lend towards the future of the product if you have some ideas/suggestions to make the product improve. Feel free to send me an email () and I will follow up with you regarding your issues/problems, but to answer your question I don't believe there are other tools vendors for the DSP56800E family at this point (someone else can correct me if I'm wrong). I really think that with some feedback from you and some work we can get you viewing your CodeWarrior experience in a more positive light. When you send your email, be sure and mention which version of the tools you are currently using, etc. so I can follow up with some good suggestions and ideas. Hi! I've started a project to create a complete tool chain for DSP56800 built on GNU software. I've almost completed porting of binutils (assembler, disassembler, linker) and next will be probably gcc and gdb. The project is quite young so the work is ongoing. I'll post any releases I'll have ready for use and testing also to this list. You can also check project statuc on SourceForge: http://sourceforge.net/projects/dsp56800 and http://dsp56800.sourceforge.net/ If there is anybody interested to help don't wait and contact me so the work would be done faster.
