Hi, I'm new to this group. I just recieved the MC56F8300DSK Demo Kit. I first had the fun of not being able to install the Codewarrior CD on my XP machine, the install shield kept giving an error, so I downloaded the file directly from Metrowerks and requested the free 8k permanent license. Codewarrior seems to be real touchy, it runs very slowly and it only works if I haven't launched any other applications otherwise it just about freezes up. So even though it doesn't say that it is Windows 95 compatable I tried installing it on an older machine and the CD worked without a hitch. Yea. So here is the question. I was able to start a real simple project (turn on an LED) and it compiled and linked when I pressed the Debug button, then it gave and error "CCSProtocolPlugin: CCS: Network fault" Does anyone know what this error is from? Do I have to change any settings from the Default to get it to communicate with the Demo Board? Thanks in advance. |

Message
Hello,
I am using DSP56858EVM and originally I also got the same error
message. I would keep trying and usually by the third or fourth try it
would start working. Once it started working, I wouldn't have any
trouble again for the rest of the day. The next morning, or any other
time that I rebooted, I would get the same message once
again.

When you created this project which stationery did you select for this Demo board? There is a jumper on the board that you need to enable to use this board. The jumper is 'HOST ENABLE' and needs to be jumpered in order to connect to the board. Regards, Irene --- In , "ev64bug" <ev64bug@y...> wrote: > Hi, > I'm new to this group. I did set the 'HOST ENABLE' jumper (I got a different error
something about the cable not present until I figure that one out). The stationery I used was the 'DSP56800x EABI stationery'. I used this one because it was shown in the exaples on the Motorola Documentation CD that accompanied the Demo Kit. Thanks, Rex --- In , "isierra95" <isierra95@y...> wrote: > When you created this project which stationery did you select for > this Demo board? Your suggestion was a good one I have somewhat of a resolution. First my XP machine doesn't like the Processor Expert it seems to hang up if I run any application before Code Warrior. So I tried setting up a new project with Simple C as the setting and then I went to debug. It still runs extremely slow. It didn't connect the first time but it got a lot further in that it tried to connect to the Demo Board. It worked on the second attempt. So I at least made contact, so I can proceed. Thanks for your help I will now step back into obscurity and not take up the user's group bandwidth..... ev64bug --- In , "Louis Loving" <louis.loving@c...> wrote: > Hello, > I am using DSP56858EVM and originally I also got the same error message. > I would keep trying and usually by the third or fourth try it would > start working. I filled out a bug report from Metrowerks website and I got a response back that led me to resolving the problem. CW uses the LM_LICENSE_FILE system variable but I had a previously installed program, Viewlogic, that also uses a user variable by that same name. Viewlogic requires a network license and the computer is not connected to the license server. So what I think was happening is that CW was looking for the license server basically hanging up. The solution was to remove the user variable for Viewlogic. So CW works blazingly fast and the Processor Expert is also functional.
