Some questions about the old Motorola's dsp56k-gcc compiler and dsp563xx family

Started by Avelino Herrera April 21, 2005
Hi, all. I am a newbie in the Motorola's DSP world and I have modified
the well known dsp56k-gcc port of the gcc GNU compiler (made by
Motorola) to use it in actual Linux boxes. I have a dsp56303 but the
dsp56k-gcc generates only dsp56000 code

- What are the essential differences between dsp56000 and dsp563xx
family?
- Is the dsp563xx family compatible with the dsp56000 code?
- What features of the dsp563xx family are throwed away running
dsp56000 code on it?

Thanks in advance and sorry about my poor english writting, I am spanish :-)

Hi, Stefan! :-)

> Which version of dsp56k-gc is it that you modified?

I modified the code located at
ftp://nic.funet.fi/pub/ham/dsp/dsp56k-tools/dsp56k-gcc.tar.Z derivate
from GCC 1.37.1 code, too.

That sounds great!! 8-) How can I get that sources?

Thanks for the info and, please, say me how to obtain that g563c!! ^_^.
Thanks for your reply :-)
