Hello! I am using a DSP56F805. 1. If I write data to a peripheral(say an LCD controller) using the external data bus, will I be able to override the address bus and use some of the multiplexed GPIO's(GPIOE2, GPIOE3, and GPIOA0 to GPIOA7)? 2. Upon exit from RESET, if I use operating mode MODE 0A by tying the EXTBOOT pin to ground, will I be able to shift to operating mode MODE 0B after booting up? Thanks a lot. Roger |

1. Yes, any higher-order address lines that are not used by the external peripheral and/or your address decoding can be used as GPIO inputs or outputs. Just set the bits in the Peripheral Enable Register (PER) for the pins you want to use, this is described in Chapter 7 "General Purpose Input/Output (GPIO)" in the DSP56F80x User's Manual. 2. Yes, you can set the BOOTMAP_B bit (Bit 4) in the System Control Register (SYS_CNTL), this is described in Section 16.7.1 "System Control Register (SYS_CNTL)" in the DSP56F80x User's Manual.
