Thanks to all of you, I have been on www.etsi.org and www.3gpp.org, and found many interesting things. I have been told moreover than the last evolution in speech coding for mobile networks was the UMTS AMR, and am now trying to implemant this piece of code. (It is working quite well, actually, thanks to the ETSI). However, I have still some questions, maybe could you help me ? The AMR compression scheme has a variable data rate compression. On the two tests I have made, it appears that the "encoded" AMR file is bigger than my 8KHz 16 bits WAV sample. I have read that the AMR compression code adds some error detection bytes, and that could be an explanation. I also have found some information on the RTP protocol. As I am writing a software for some mobile device, do you think useful to use this protocol to send the data, or the raw AMR data can be enough ? Oh and finally, do you know some good online source for this kind of thing ? I do not think of an "official" website like 3gpp or etsi, but something more like this mailing, with a forum and some docs ? Thanks and Have a nice day !
