Agree with your assessment of Python. I've found the 2.x libraries are more complete than 3.x. And it's hard to argue with the PyCharm desktop interface for ease...

In the ballpark in terms of order of magnitude. Even with 1.8 volt cores and long (100 mm) channels it is hard to argue with the approximation.
