I did look at the DSPic33CK but wasn't sure. That's good from what you have said and I may well try it. My problem is that it takes me a long time to design things...

Thanks for that, have been putting off using surface mount but I know I have to do it. One twitch with the tweezers and it's gone, but will be a challenge.
