Need help for EVM C5505 ECG

Started by talh...@yahoo.com May 16, 2011
hi,

here the detail of my problem:

i purchased EVM C5505 and AFE for implementation of ECG. i successfully connected it to pc. the guide which came with it said to follow the steps for ECG i.e
2. Power on the VC5505 EVM using slide switch SW4.
3. Open Code Composer Studio.
4. Click on Debug ® Connect in Code Composer Studio to connect to the VC5505 EVM.
5. Click on Project ® Open in Code Composer Studio and select the file.
6. Click on File ® Load .out file in Code Composer Studio.
7. Execute the application.
8. Switch on the ECG simulator to view the ECG signal on the VC5505 EVM.( i use it in real time with actual person)

i didnt find "ECGSystem.pjt" but instead "ecgsystem-nonbios.pjt' was available in Cds folder. i used it. it ask for "stdio.h" in CCS. i gave the file from CCS bin folder(it was not provided within the Cds). then i used .out file again from its CDs folder. the device lcd as well as pc application give output but too much noise. specially from v1 to v6. i tried to use ezdsp5505 .out and pjt files available from code.google as adviced me by ti employee named SEB. but then nothing happens all things become blank. i watched a demo video from ti site in which the operator use simulator for ECG. there i noticed change in jumpers comnfiguration for both AFE and EVM.

now i am stuck here. what should i need to do now. is there a need to write code or there is a problem in hardware although i have checked a demo sample code provided with it and it works just fine. please advice me on this...

Thanks.
Hi Talha,
Can you describe which leads you have connected? I have a C5515 ECG MDK and have found that at a minimum you will need to connect the RL, LL, LA, RA leads. It is tempting to think you can just connect V1 and see the signal, but the front end board needs these other leads attached to properly condition the signal. The V1 you see on the LCD (or in the PC App) is actually V1-(LA+LL+RA)/3, and the RL (Right Leg Drive) actively cancels 60Hz noise by pumping an inverted signal into the right leg. This is described in more detail in the documentation. Let me know if this helps or if you are still having problems.

hi kuku,
Thanks for the reply and help. i did what you asked me to do and the
EVM has started to show results. this time i have connected all the leads.
although HR is showing variations from 88 to 120... although the subject is
still during the whole process. what could be the reason for that??? and should
i use ELECTRODE GEL during the process??? if it has anything to do with the
signal generation??? and one thing more can i somehow transfer the .ecg files to
MATLAB for further analysis?? cause i am doing project and really need some new
ideas all related with the ECGs...

Thanks,
Talha.
