Is this part still active: TMS320C6412AZNZ5-500

We need few quantity of TMS320C6412AZNZ5-500MHz which has a core voltage of 1.2V but looking at various distributors it looks like they have TMS320C6412AZNZ5-A500 which has core voltage of CVDD 1.4 whereas I am looking for core-voltage of 1.2V.

Is TMS320C6412AZNZ5-500 still active? TI web-site says that it is active but I am not able to find any distributor who can sell these part.

Any help is appreciated.

How many is a few? It's possible that the 1.2V Vcc version silicon is the same as
1.4V silicon but goes through additional screening/testing after manufacture. If you
need less than 10 or so, then you might try some 1.4V devices and see if they work,
assuming you can run extensive regression test and reliability test software.

But if you need more, risk increases with this approach. In that case you have to
look hard to find a distributor who (i) has an excellent and long-standing
relationship with TI, and (ii) who will support you.

Thanks Jeff for the answer. We are still in prototype so we need around 10. Let me see if 1.4v works for us.

A few random part and prototype comments:

I am not sure where you are located - Arrow in the US reports that they
have it in stock.

Use http://focus.ti.com/docs/prod/folders/print/tms320c6412.html
1. It will show if the part is active.
2. You can use TI's disti inventory numbers [they may not be exact] as
an indicator of "ease of locating". The web page reported 80 of the 500
Mhz parts and 950 of the 600 Mhz parts.

If an authorized distributor does not have the part, ask for the lead
time. [This will be verification that the part is active].
NOTE: Sometimes larger distributors will have shorter lead times than
smaller distributors.

If you have personal contact with a rep, let them know that the order is
for prototypes, that it is important to get the parts, and ask if they
have any idea how you can get the parts asap. [sometimes they might
surprise you]

The speed and voltage are factory screened off of a single line. The
fact that the 500 Mhz is 1.2v and 600 & 720 Mhz are 1.4v leads me to
believe that everything being built will run at 600 Mhz minimum [1.4v].
They back off the voltage a hair, the device still runs at 500 Mhz and
they get a "two-fer" power reduction - lower voltage and lower frequency.

Oh yeah - try to order parts in advance :-)
