Process gain K

Started by Markus Steindl October 19, 2005
Dear all,

I tried to contact you last week, but unfortunately you haven\'t answerd my question yet. So, I request you to give me a hand in that case, cause it is very important for me! Following is my first email to you from last week! Thank you!

My name is Marcus and I have to do a control engineering project on matlab. My purpose is to identify a process from given input and output datas. For this I am using the system identification toolbox with the ident window from matlab. FOr the estimation I\'m using the Processe models and try to find the best fit to the original datas. The question is, how can I interpret the calculated process gain K? I removed the means from the input and output signal, but i don\'t know if that is enough to compare both signals and to compute a process gain. You know what I mean....to calculate the gain, both signals must be in the right dimension. So, if i got a valve position for the input (0-100%) and a temperature for the output (0-160 Celcius), i don\'t really know how to calculate the gain?? Or how does the system identification calculate the gain? And how can i get to the m-code behind the ident window

Thank you for your help

kind regards
Marcus
