Hello Minesh, Yes the bootloader is pre-installed in all new processors. If you were using CW to run in Flash debug mode it does remove the bootloader for some reason. Just do as Michael suggested and reload the bootloader into that processor. I don't think that Michael was recommending that you always reload the bootloader into new proce

From my understanding, the bootloader copies itself from Flash to RAM, then runs out of the RAM to erase the Flash and write the Application code. However, it "erases" itself in the process which would prevent further bootloading. ...

Are there any tutorials on creating a bootloader? Is it any diffrent then creating a program in metrowerks? I need a bootloader that checks the s-rec file before loading it. It is for a wireless serial device. I have tried the motorola one with no luck :( Thanks, tom

Hi, I would like to know if I do have to use JTAG to load the bootloader in the boot section of the memory. Can't I use SCI to download the bootloader and then the application? Is there any kind of factory boot code already in the chip when I receive them from motorola?

In the bootloader documentation .PDF file, 56F801x it mentions a bootloader test program that checks memory and stuff, called test_app_56F801x.S and supposedly the .cmp as well. I can't find either one in the (recent) codewarrior sent to me. (5.6.1 ide) Anybody know where to find it ? (the bootloader itself is talking to my telnet client)
