Are Summit and Apex-ICE emulators my only option?

(i'll be working with Blackfin)

pretty damn expensive stuff. last year i did a project with TI DSP
and the software and hardware didn't come to as much as either of
these alone. so i'm wondering if there are any other emulators
(really JTAG programmers) that work with VDSP++...

thanks much,
michael

I've got the ezkit, looking at hooking one to a SHARC using TDM. Gotta
populate the expansion connectors, first.

ADI is also coming out with a new faster version of PCI and USB
emulators shortly. They were showing the PCI one at the last Embedded
Systems show. I don't know of any 3rd parties making a JTAG emulator.

Since MSA (the Blackfin core) is a co-development with Intel, Intel
might produce silicon and then some competition for tools may start to
turn up. I'm reminded of a statement from a Sun founder, "better to be a
small fish in a big pond than a big fish in a small pond". An Intel MSA
chip would certainly make the "pond" a lot bigger.
