i'm planning on using that blackfin mainly becuase it has a built in PCI bridge. but, i've found very little documentation on this, just the one chapter in the 21535 manual. interesting, but i'd really like some schematic examples... or anything i can get my hands on. thanks again, mike |

Hello Mike Please note that their is a new version of the Blackfin Hardware Reference Manual due out shortly. There is quite a bit more detailed information built into this newly revised chapter. Will you be utilizing PCI for in a Host or Slave environment in your application? If it is a PCI Host, are you familiar with the Momentum Data Systems (www.mds.com) Eagle-35 Development Platform for the ADSP-21535? ADI's agreement with MDS is that ADI has the rights to distribute the Eagle schematics and also the PCI arbitration equations. If it s a PCI Slave, MDS has a Hawk-35 PCI Slave card for the ADSP-21535 available also, and ADI internally has a PCI Slave card that we would be willing to share schematics to you to help with your design efforts. There is also a forthcoming App Note that will cover configuration and programming the PCI as either a Host or a Slave configuration. This will be up on the website shortly. In addition to Wayne's comments, there are efforts underway to port an embedded Linux to Blackfin, under both the "flags" of Lineo Embeddix and uClinux. That would give one an easy way to use the Blackfin's PCI bus without having to code drivers for it. |

Hi Blackfin, Interesting to know that there is some stronger reference material on using the PCI interface on the Balckfin DSP. For sure, there are lots more engineers (I include myself) who can be interested on the documentation and reference material you mentioned, not just Mike. Best wishes, JaaC Blackfin wrote:Hello Mike Please note that their is a new version of the Blackfin Hardware Reference Manual due out shortly.
