iam not being able to install the test version of visual dsp after
downloading from the ADi site.It showing an error as 'The XML file is
missing'. I also obtained a testdrive CD, showing same error.

There was an issue with Internet Explorer, some time ago.
Maybe your problem has to do with that.
If you're installing on Windows, make sure that you have either IE6.0 or newer
installed or, at least, the XML Parser Packet.
I'm not sure if that helps, since I noticed problems only while viewing
compiler/linker output.
However, VDSP relies on a fairly modern Windows Installation.
