memory related issue

Started by bhatt_nitk March 29, 2006
hi
i am using ADSP 2181 my application. i have interfaced EPROM with BDMA
port of the processor. but now i have to increase my code size, with
this my on chip memory is insufficient to store my code.
now i want to use external SRAM to run my application.
but now i am not getting that how can i store my code in SRAM so that
at power on reset dsp start executing code from external memory.
and also which file i have to store in SRAM

Hi,

have you alredy used overlays and program still does
not fit within conhip RAM?

Hi JaaC,

Your question is not clear to me....

do you mean that even after using the overlays, the on-chip memory not being
sufficient (individual overlay functions big enough to fit in to on-chip
memory) or something else???

please also mention about the DSP which you are working with.

kunal

Hi,

Well, those questions are for you, the original
poster.

In other words, my questions are:

1. Did you already use internal memory overlays?
2. If yes, does the program still not fit within
on-chip (internal) memory?
3. If not, go ahead and use overlays first!

Overlays work for several of the ADSP-218x processors,
including the ADSP-2181 (the one you said you use).

JaaC

there are a couple of application notes on ADI website on code/data overlays
...
one app note also contains some source code for 2181 implementation
.. may be it is worth to read that
http://www.analog.com/processors/resources/technicalLibrary/appNotes.html

you can get a number of app notes on overlays on the above link....
