[HELP] ADSP-2185 + PIC18F8722 ?

Started by kchuang1126 April 8, 2010
I hve a project on my hand.

Originally, the project used AT91FR40162(ARM7TDMI) to connect to ADSP-2185's SPORT(DR1, DT1, SCLK1) via 3 pins (RXD1, TXD1, SCK1) operation on synchronous mode of USART. Data Rate = 480K bps.

But now, we want to change the MCU to PIC18F8722(PIC). PIC uses 2 pins(CK1, DT1) when it operates on synchronous mode.

Problem:
1. How does the PIC(2 pins) connect to the SPORT of ADSP(3 pins)?
2. Can I use PIC to connect to ADSP?
3. Which type of PIC can I choose for ADSP-2185?

Thanks for your kindly reply.

We have a credit card size board that uses a PIC16F876 and a
ADSP-2186 connected via SPI & SPORT. The SPORT operates as master and
it uses a 74VHC02 for gating the clock and adjusting the timing a little.

Any PIC will work this way. The ADSP-2186 is just a smaller memory
version of the ADSP-2185.

Dear Clark,

Thanks for your kindly reply.

The ADSP-2185 used on the product of customer and I cannot do any modification. Our board includes only PIC and Micro SD card.
As previous mail, We want to use PIC replace ARM. But we don't know how to connect between both because of PIC(2 pin) and ADSP(3 pin).

Could you provide me the circuit diagram, please? For your product, the PIC16F876 operates on Synchronous or Asynchronous mode,i.e.,use TXD1, RXD1 or CK1, DT1 ? What is the Data Rate?

Thanks for your help in advance.

Best Regards,
KC
