It's here! The download is 39,131,106 bytes. Another improvement not mentioned here is that we can finally use the optimizer without disabling debugging. So you can debug optimized code. =================GIN FORWARDED MESSAGE================== > From: DSPTools <> > Subject: VisualDSP++ release 2.0 for the SHARC DSP family is now available > ! Free Upgrade! > Date: Thu, 8 Nov 2001 10:35:13 -0500 Hello All, The Analog Devices DSP Tools Product Line is pleased to announce VisualDSP++ release 2.0 for the SHARC DSP family is now available. You may download the latest release from the ADI web site at: http://www.analog.com/industry/dsp/tools/fixes_sharc.html. Please read the readme file found on the upgrade page and see instructions below for upgrading from 1.0 to 2.0. VisualDSP++ release 2.0 for the SHARC DSP family contains a number of new features and enhancements. Most notable of the new features: This release marks the introduction of the VisualDSP++ Kernel (VDK) to the SHARC processor platform. The VDK is a lightweight kernel (operating system) that provides thread creation and deletion, semaphores, events, etc. for embedded applications. The primary design driver of the VDK was small size. The VDK is fully integrated into the IDE's project build and debug mechanisms. A new user's guide has been provided that explains the VDK's API and its usage. Example applications are also provided. The Integrated Development Environment (IDE) merges the capabilities that used to be found in separate IDE and debugger applications. The new IDE will allow users to switch between editing and debugging tasks without switching between applications. To help users manage their screen real estate, the IDE includes a new facility for quickly switching between ten "workspaces" (window layouts). It is recommended that users use a different workspace for each type of task they will be performing (e.g., editing, source language debugging, plotting, profiling, etc.). In response to a number of customer requests, ADI has modified the licensing model for VisualDSP++ beginning with the 2.0 release. VisualDSP++ is now licensed on a per-user basis rather than per-machine. This change means that the same VisualDSP++ serial number may be utilized on multiple computers as long as only one user will be using that license. For example, you are now able to install VisualDSP++ on both your work and home computers. The license verification mechanism on the Analog Devices web site will allow your license to be activated on multiple machines. Limitation: User will only be allowed to register a serial number up to three times. This change is retroactive to all previous DSP tools releases from ADI; any existing license is now a per-user license. Upgrading from 1.0 to 2.0 Present customers upgrading from VisualDSP 1.0 to 2.0 should follow the below procedure to properly install VisualDSP++ release 2.0: 1) Back up license.dat file 2) Uninstall 1.0 (removal is recommended) 3) Reboot your system between uninstalling the old version and installing the new release 4) Install VisualDSP++ 2.0 5) Replace license.dat file Note: Should you delete the license.dat file you will need reinstall your original license and then re-register at the ADI web site. Thank you for your continued support. Fwd: VisualDSP++ release 2.0 for the SHARC DSP family is now available ! Free Upgrade!
Hi, Interesting. But the only thing I get when trying to download from the html page (http://www.analog.com/industry/dsp/tools/fixes_sharc.html) is dialog standing for a not available site. Maybe downloading from their web site. Today morning I saw it, but was lazy to download. On the ftp site appears it is the size you wrote, but on the web page appears it is pretty bigger: 52.5 MB Regards, Jaime Kenneth Porter <k...@kensingtonlabs.com> wrote: It's here! On the ftp site appears it is the size you wrote, but on the web page appears it is pretty bigger: 52.5 MB Might be that the person composing the web page was given a wrong number before the file was ready for release. That might be the uncompressed size after installation. At least it errs on the conservative side. |
I just downloaded it. The link works for me and it's 38,214kB in size. They changed the licensing method as well. That will make it easier to do the hard drive upgrade that is coming very soon. Marcell |
