Audio Quality Measurement or Comparison
Started by ●June 14, 2008
I m working on an assignment where in I have to split an audio channel into
multiple sub bands using QMF filters. I wanted to know how can I compare the
quality of the input audio and the reconstructed audio. Is there any method to
do the same using frequency transform, If yes how? Thanks in advance.

If you are using a perfect reconstruction filterbank , then you can go with SNR
measurements to determine the quality. If you are using pseudo QMF(like the once
in MP3) you can use a tool like EAQUAL, or similar methods,to get a signal to
mask (or noise to mask) measurement.
