the simulator is not a free software you have to pay
for it:-)

Hi All,

The free download version is good for 90 days. However, keep in mind that
the simulator (and the code gen tools) are embedded into Code Composer.

Or, get a $99 DSK.

Adding a simple host side control interface to the DSK is fairly easy as
long as the IO is purely digital (not to mention millions of times faster).
IO speed is also much faster than JTAG (or SIM30) but depends quite a bit on
the PP mode and wether or not it is one of the newer ones that can use a
shorter IO cycle. Depending on the port, I get anywhere from
100-400kbyte/sec in bi-directional mode.

Using the AIC is also fairly easy as long as you reinitialize it on each
restart. The problem is that with a serial programmed AIC, and a fairly
lengthy 'dead time' while moving data back and forth, the serial port has a
tendancy to underflow, causing the SP to shutdown, and in the process
reprogramming the AIC. A new PCM3003 stereo audio daughter card (should be
on the shelf soon) will go a long way to remedy this.
