Cable for programming via JTAG, 5407

Hi all,

could anyone give me a good reference on how to build the cable to
program my DSP via JTAG? How do I connect to the PC and do the
programming?

That's something we'd all like to know :> Then maybe a Linux port of the
54xx tools would have a chance of appearing. Right now the only solution
that I know of is to buy the JTAG pod from Spectrum digital.

Brian,

There is an inexpensive device available, called a Wiggler, which
converts a parallel port to JTAG. I don't know all the details, but
the device essentially "bit-bangs" the JTAG signals. It is available
for many different target ICs, but don't know if it is available for TI
DSPs.
If it is, it will be slow, and only allow one target to be attached.
However,
this may be OK for some.

Brian,

You can use Signum Systems JTAGjet emulator for Windows
or Linux to program the DSP devices. It offers an API to your own
C software or you can use the flash programming utilities provided
by TI. See www.signum.com/jtagjet.htm for more info.

As far as I know, the Linux C54xx compiler is included on the CD-ROM
of the TI's Code Composer Studio 2.20 tools.

There's also the Altera ByteBlaster cable.  Might
this work?
