Connecting EVM to CCStudio v4.x

Started by faya...@gmail.com March 9, 2011
Dear:

I have purchased a TMS320C5505 EVM card which is supplied with CCStudio v3.3.

I have downloaded and installed CCStudio v4.x. But now i can't interface my EVM with

CCStudio v4.x.

To interface the card, first to make a Target Configuration File. In making Target

Configuration File, in the "Connection" box list there is no name for my EVM like

"Spectrum Digital DSK-EVM onboard USB Emulator".

My question is how to add or connect my EVM to CCSudio v4.x.

A couple of comments / questions:

1) I did a search on

5505 EVM CCS 4.1

and there are some e2e.ti.com forum threads where the combination of EVM 5505 and CCS 4.x is being discussed.

2) Do you see *any* DSK and/or EVM options in the CCS Target Connection list? If not then there may be some
additional file(s) that you have to download from TI.

3) Did you check on Spectrum Digital's website for CCS 4.x support files? CCS v4 is a big change from v3, more stuff
is needed. Spectrum Digital may not have it all on the CD yet.

I had problems with another EVM board when both CCSv3 and CCSv4 were installed. The answer I received from support is that you cannot have both versions installed at the same time. As you as I performed an uninstall on CCSv4, I was able to get CCSv3 working again. You may have the same luck if you uninstall CCSv3 in order to access CCSv4. But there may be additional issues, as Jeff has listed.
